What’s New at Viera East Golf Club? Summer Fun in Full Swing (or putt), you decide what's best for you! Take advantage of many ways to get out and play!
The vibe at Viera East Golf Course feels warm (it is summer), welcoming, and inviting. It's a mood of community gathering, with lots of new happenings to further the momentum. Viera East has made a community out of its golf course and it shows. While the swings are in full motion, what is evident is how the diverse crowd has taken to the greens, with families are spending quality time together out on the course. Creating opportunities for family (young and old) to come together has long been the goal of Viera, and this course has found its niche. By providing opportunities for the full family to play together, Viera East is in a summer of fun!
Viera East Golf course is known for it's beauty and tranquility, the native wildlife is a favorite for those playing here. Not to mention it helps that we’ve finally received some much-needed rain in the area, and the green is really greening, but it’s definitely gaining more of the family zone feel.
A few important updates:
Our Ladies International Golf Day (which was rained out in June) was rescheduled for Saturday July 13th. International Women’s Day has built quite the following! This year Viera East hosted the fourth annual event on a Saturday, in connection with Sassy Saturday. Sadly, that much needed rain chose to roll through making the need for adjustment. A local favorite, the traction of International Women's Golf Day has been a hit with other courses in Brevard as well.
The good news is: August 17th the next Sassy Saturday takes place, and the theme of "It's 5:00 Somewhere" will set the tone. Time will begin at 3:00 pm and you already know this will be a great deal for getting together with your favorite girls to hit some balls on the greens! Click for more info.
Lifestyle Coordinator, Michelle Webb Dale has been working on some awesome events for July. We’ve been asked about when we’d offer a date night for couples and the good news is that it’s in the works. Another idea we’ve been planning is some live music putt putt! This will be a great time to come out and enjoy the beauty and mood of Viera East. Stay tuned for updates.
Individual Lessons are going great this summer! Viera East hosts a variety of options for players to build their skills, as a group or individually. Book your appointment with your golf pro for honing in on specific techniques to up your skills on the course.
David Owen shared that his lessons today varied from a 9-year-old who is working hard on learning the craft, and an 84-year-old experienced player who wanted to work on personal goals.
Or join forces with Mike Hogan, Director of Instruction, who books lessons and a camp program throughout the summer. Depending on the style and fit you are looking for, these opportunities are available to meet a variety of needs. There are still two remaining week long sessions available for campers.
Speaking of camp - Looking for activities to get your kids off of their video games and other screen time devices? Some of these are: Golf Academy, Junior Academy, kids club and Juniors play free when accompanying an adult.
Digging a bit deeper into the summer camp choices:
Camp is a way to create friendships and socialize with likeminded individuals. Build self-confidence while ensuring your grip on the ball is stable.
Kids can attend a weeklong Mon – Friday 3-hour camp. From 9 – 12 the participants will spend the first half working on a specific skill (changes daily) and the second have getting some practical application, that's right, golfing! Playing seven to eight holes each afternoon after the lesson gives the opportunity to put those newfound skills in action. David and Phil offer weeklong sessions where children of all ages can come and get some small group training in low rations to improve each aspect of their game. Several campers have returned for repeat weeks!
Kids camps also have a bigger emphasis on training aids. Use of the impact bag helps encourage swinging hard and compressing their shot. Swing and hit drills ae a great way to improve your tee as well! Being able to focus on pitching and chipping gives players more confidence in the game. Plus, while kids typically have excellent golf course etiquette, they are able to review some of those easy to learn good practices in a safe space. "Kids" applies to a wide range of participants, ranging from four-year-old beginners to seventeen-year-olds gaining in their skill set.
Also, there’s Friday afternoon kids club, which is a smaller group. This happens the first and third Friday of June, July and August and allows for consistency without the commitment of a daily lesson.
Whichever opportunities you take advantage of, you’re sure to find the same priority is “growing relationships” which is the management’s commitment to the craft. This scenic course boasts wildlife, appreciation of the great outdoors, and the ability to evolve. When you live here, and play here, you care here too.
